About Flower Force: America 250 & Xavier Cortada

Created by Miami-based artist Xavier Cortada, Flower Force: America 250 is a large-scale ceramic obelisk created to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. The sculpture features 250 individually sculpted flowers, each representing unity, growth, resilience, and the enduring spirit of our nation. Part of Cortada’s broader environmental art practice, the installation serves as both a striking visual landmark and a call to action—encouraging individuals and communities to become active stewards of the environment through native planting and ecological restoration efforts.

For more than three decades, Cortada has created public art projects around the world that address issues including climate change, biodiversity, and community engagement. His work can be found throughout South Florida and across six continents, using art as a platform to inspire conversation, education, and meaningful action. By bringing Flower Force: America 250 to Kurv Doral, the project creates a unique intersection of art, community, and environmental awareness while celebrating a significant milestone in American history.

Growing Community

As part of the Flower Force: America 250 celebration, Kurv Doral is donating 250 native Firebush plants to members of the community.

The giveaway extends the spirit of the installation beyond the obelisk itself, encouraging residents to create habitats that support pollinators and strengthen South Florida’s natural ecosystems.

Firebush (Hamelia patens) is a Florida native known for its vibrant blooms and its ability to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Plant Pickup Information
Community members may pick up their complimentary Firebush plant on Monday, June 29th from 5-8 PM at Doral Central Park.

Kurv Doral

Building More Than Industrial Space

Kurv Industrial’s commitment to Doral and the communities in which it operates extends beyond the development of state-of-the-art facilities, it includes long-term investments in infrastructure. This commitment is exemplified by the recently completed roadway, NW 112th Avenue, delivered through a public-private partnership between Kurv Industrial and the City of Doral. The new roadway creates a critical north-south connection between NW 34th Street and NW 41st Street through the heart of Doral’s Central Business District, improving traffic flow, enhancing connectivity to major thoroughfares, and supporting continued economic growth.

Complementing these infrastructure improvements for the city overall, the project also included significant environmental enhancements through the creation of an approximately 10-acre bioswale consisting of improved wetlands. Designed to support stormwater management, enhance water quality, and promote ecological resilience, the bioswale reflects a commitment to responsible development that balances infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.

With projects like NW 112th Avenue and its associated environmental improvements, Kurv hope to create stronger connections, improve accessibility, and deliver lasting value for the city and the people who call it home, while supporting the continued growth and vitality of one of South Florida’s most dynamic communities.
